“When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.” - Aldo Leopold, Forward to a Sand County Almanac

Human communities play a large part in all aspects of forest management. Whether establishing a community forest project or adhering to criteria for third party certification, forest managers are increasingly considering the surrounding community in their management decisions. The 6th Annual Duke Forestry Symposium will provide examples and tangible tools from managers in private, non-profit and government sectors to balance management practices and community values. Please join us for this very exciting day of presentations.
